ESCH2022

In 2022, together with 10 Prosud municipalities, and 8 municipalities in France, in the Haut Val de l’Alzette (CCPHVA), Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg’s second largest city, will be European Capital of Culture. Each year this label is awarded to a different city or area within the European Union, and each individual event needs its own brand identity to stand out among the rest.

Art Director + Identity Designer

This wide spread and collaborative project will ‘remix’ the disciplines of geography, photography and theatre from the perspective of citizens living and working in the cross-border agglomeration of Esch. Culminating in the summer of 2022 with a series of activities formed around the concept of sensing place and understanding the complexity of place attachment that manifest in the region.

As the “Remix Place” brand identity designer, I’ve been tasked with creating a parallel design scaffolding for the ESCH2022 event (in progress). Working with leading artists, researchers, and documentarians, this projects deep conceptual grounding was a really exciting place to start an identity design platform. As we inch closer to the event in 2022, I will continue to Art Direct and compose creative assets to build out a complete brand toolkit for the event.
